Easiest Ever Cinnamon Butter Croissants

up close photo of a cinnamon butter croissant that is dripping with vanilla glaze

These are seriously the easiest cinnamon butter croissants you will ever make! I can whip them up on the fly for a Saturday morning treat and it takes so little time and effort!

These gooey, buttery cinnamon croissants are a treat worthy of coffee shop status and all you need is some frozen puff pastry and common panty items. My boys go nuts for these, and I’ll be honest, I do too! It’s such a lovely way to start the weekend.

With four little boys in the house, I feel like the kitchen and dishes are my constant chore. It’s become a focus of mine lately to have some go to recipes that are quick and create very minimal mess to clean up afterward. These croissants can be assembled on the wax paper that comes with the frozen dough and then baked on a parchment paper lined baking sheet!

That means hardly any clean up at all! Praise the heavens!!!

Tips For Making The Easiest Ever Cinnamon Butter Croissants

  • Preheat the oven as the very first thing you do. This will streamline the process, so that by the time you are done assembling your croissants the oven is hot and ready. I have even put the croissants in before the oven has fully reached 350 and they turn out great every time.
  • You use the puff pastry dough straight from the freezer! I just take the dough out of the plastic wrapper and wrap the still rolled up dough in a paper towel. Then I place it in the microwave and microwave for 15 seconds on 70% power. Next, flip the dough over to the other side and repeat the process.
  • You will see butter and cinnamon leak out of the croissants while baking, and just know that’s ok and normal.
  • I like to use coconut sugar to help lower the glycemic impact of this treat, but using brown sugar will work just as well.
  • When glazing the cinnamon butter croissants, I like set them on the platter I will be serving them on prior to glazing. That way all that yummy glaze that runs off the hot croissant is at the table for a little extra dipping!
  • My favorite frozen puff pastry doughs to work with are Peppridge Farm’s and Trader Joe’s. I always grab a couple to have on hand in the freezer.

How to Make the Cinnamon Butter Croissants a Complete Meal

What I love about this recipe, is that there is just enough time while the cinnamon butter croissants are baking to make some scrambled eggs or fried eggs for your protein source.

It’s then so simple and quick to chop up some fruit, slice up a cantaloupe, or if you have berries to simply set them out on a table in a pretty bowl.

How To Make the Easiest Ever Cinnamon Butter Croissants

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and lining your baking sheet with parchment paper.

Then, grab your frozen puff pastry dough out of the freezer. You can also transfer your frozen puff pastry dough to the refrigerator the night before to thaw.

However, if you have not thought ahead, as I often do, all is not lost! You can easily thaw your dough out in the microwave. Simply remove your dough from the plastic wrapper and wrap the rolled dough in a paper towel. Then, microwave on 70% power for 15 seconds, flip, and microwave at 70% power for 15 seconds again. This should thaw out your dough enough to where it’s workable and can be rolled out flat. You may need to microwave once more, but be careful to not actually heat up the dough so it is warm or it will be extremely difficult to work with and will not have as flakey of a texture when baked.

Roll your dough out flat and lay it on the wax paper it came rolled up in.

Next, using a pizza cutter or knife, divide your dough is half.

Then take each half and divide them into three triangular portions. The two triangles in the middle will be larger than the others, so cut those in half lengthwise for a total of 8 triangular dough pieces.

Mix your softened butter, cinnamon, and sugar in small bowl and spread the mixture on each triangular piece of dough.
